Morris Sheppard Dam Coring

Consor performed underwater core samples at the Morris Sheppard Dam. Based on a visual dive inspection performed by the firm in 2018, Brazos River Authority decided to better inspect the dam both topside and underwater by taking several core samples from select bays on the structure. Possum Kingdom Lake, a reservoir on the Brazos River located primarily in Palo Pinto County, is exceptionally deep which requires very technical dives. Commercial divers safely dove to depths up to 119-ft. to core 6-in. holes as directed by the engineer. Core samples were brought to the engineering team topside, and then holes were backfilled with a special concrete epoxy to ensure the dam integrity remained.
