Central and South AWWTFs Energy Savings Contract Upgrade

Fort Myers, Florida

The City of Fort Myers contracted with Siemens Industry to provide energy-saving equipment improvements under an Energy Savings Contract (ESC) at its Central and South advanced wastewater treatment facilities (AWWTFs). The facilities are both 5-stage Bardenpho nutrient removal plants with capacities of 11 mgd and 12 mgd, respectively. CONSOR provided initial evaluation assistance, submittal reviews, and implementation coordination assistance, and now serves as Siemen’s engineer-of-record for the installation, evaluation, and startup-up coordination of the replacement equipment. The equipment includes new mixing systems for the anaerobic, anoxic, and RT basins, new low-speed surface aerators for the nitrification channels, a new aeration system for the RT basins, and new turbo blowers for the sludge digesters. The project is currently in the post-construction phase for the Central AWWTF and pre-construction for the South AWWTF.
