Resilient Systems Design

Recognizing the unique challenges associated with development in low-lying coastal areas and other hazard rich geographies, CONSOR Engineers provides a specialized service offering related to resilient systems design. Focused on urban and coastal resiliency, the interface of development with our natural ecosystems, ecosystem protection and restoration, coastal flood risk management, and climate change adaptation, we aim to help our clients to prepare for, withstand, recover, and adapt to a wide variety of natural stressors such as sea level rise, tropical storms, and wildfires.

Municipal Drainage and Flood Control

CONSOR Engineers excels at delivering planning/feasibility studies, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and infrastructure design services for locally driven drainage improvement or flood risk reduction projects.

Our experts provide innovative planning services for both urban and rural watersheds, addressing a wide variety of issues ranging from flood risk reduction to erosion control/stream stability to environmental preservation. Our hydrologic and hydraulic modeling capabilities include complex integrated two-dimensional models such as HEC-RAS 2D, SRH 2D, XPSWMM 2D, and FLO-2D. Other typical services include data collection and evaluation, opportunities and constraints mapping, brainstorming workshops, stakeholder coordination, alternatives formulation, identification of recommended/preferred alternatives, funding studies and preparation of grant applications, implementation planning (project phasing), and preparation of development guidelines.

Building on our expertise in planning studies, we provide turn-key design services for common drainage infrastructure such as channels, storm sewers, culverts, bridges, pump stations, and detention/retention basins. This includes both retrofit/improvement of existing infrastructure as well as design of new infrastructure to service developing areas. Typical services provided include hydrologic and hydraulic analysis; flood hazard identification/mitigation; pre-design and final design plans; utility coordination and conflict resolution; quantities, cost estimates, and specifications; local permitting/environmental permitting; and FEMA floodplain (LOMR/CLOMR) services.

CONSOR also provides site civil services for both new construction and re-development commercial sites. Typical services include hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, civil layout, site grading, and pavement design, drainage design (e.g. channels, storm drains, detention/retention basins), and local permitting. Other areas of specialization include MS4/NPDES stormwater services, fish passage studies, and ecological planning and restoration.

Transportation Drainage

CONSOR Engineers is a national leader providing innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage design services for both small and large-scale transportation/roadway projects. Typical services involve the analysis and design of ditches, channels, storm drains, and cross culverts; bridge hydraulic modeling/evaluation and design; scour analysis and countermeasure design; analysis and design of mitigation facilities such as detention/retention basins and Low Impact Development alternatives; and delivery of construction plans for drainage infrastructure as part of both design-bid-build and design-build projects. In addition, we specialize in erosion control (SWPPP), stormwater, water quality (NPDES), and environmental resource permitting associated with transportation projects. Our innovative approaches to 1D/2D hydraulic modeling and 3D roadway/drainage design, including Automated Machine Guidance (AMG) applications, help our clients develop to functional and cost-effective solutions to their transportation drainage needs.
